Day 3, 25/05/09,

Today we started off by trying all sorts of "turnings", Mareike also showed us how to keep balance when the boat has turned to a side, and how to recover from undesired turns.. remember, hips out first!! Albeit, Timo fooled me into thinking we should try turning without any support, and i ended up having a nice swim back with my boat full of water.

Having said that, luckily this time Mareike managed to find a tri-skirt big enough for my lorry-look-alike kayak.. it is so large you need two people to empty it!

overall, great day, very hot weather and too many people swimming in the lake.. was tempted to scare some of them by paddling into them!

our guys had a good swim at the end too. Though I was fully changed and ready for a swim in the Europe's largest outdoor pool: Waschmühle

So, it is here! Kajakfahren auf dem Gelterswoog

Amazing, calm, beautiful lake, few Kilometers outside Kaiserslautern, surrounded by hills covered with trees..

The course started on 11/05/09 with Mareike as the coach

This weblog will present our progress, and some pictures..

First 3 lessons were spent on general progress, turning and recovering the boat after successful immersion!! having said that, drinking that water is seriously not recommended!

if you want to add any pictures, just email it to me: "hamed at mpi-sws . org" (remove the whitespaces and replace the "at" of course), also if you want any picture removed!! we are privacy-aware!!
